Walking into Tokyo’s Little Nap Coffee Stand gives you a good sense of the Yoyogi park community. Outside there were skaters smoking and sipping iced lattes and inside was a man drinking a cup of coffee while his kid gnawed on a cookie in between dances. The space is quite small- even if it weren’t packed with turntables, it would be difficult to fit more than five. But I can tell its a stop for many in the area, if only for a short while.
On the walls were skating prints and past Yoyogi park block party posters where the owner was a Dj. The music in Little Nap was chill as my frosty mason jar latte and the espresso was thick and creamy. You see plenty of coffee shop owners ready to start an empire, but it’s rare to find a coffee shop so comfortably tucked into its niche. There is a feeling of satisfaction in the air: a lifestyle with coffee well-blended.
Authentic espresso brewed with coffee beans roasted in-house, perfect for a quiet afternoon. Little Nap Coffee Stand is a classy cafe located in a quiet residential area near Yoyogi park. This February marked the beginning of its eighth year. The cafe is loved by its patrons, who appreciate carefully brewed coffee. The cafe hosts some DJ events and live band performances from time to time, facilitating the burgeoning of culture. Last year, the jazz band The Lagaerphones came from Melbourne, Australia, and were highly praised.
The cafe’s friendly atmosphere makes it a great hangout spot for many different types of people. Their specially roasted coffee beans are praised – even by their competitors – and are in high demand. It is also – quite literally – a great place for a little nap.
